"I got interested in real estate in '04, when I got laid off from my job. I was being paid about $9 an hour. I'm a young guy, married with a 1 year old son.

Anyways, before I got laid off from the job, I was up watching TV late at night and saw a commercial on real estate investing. I was always interested in houses. One main reason was I wanted one for me and my family (We were at the time living with my mother). So I got more and more interested in REI, then got laid off.

I now had all the time in the world. I went to the library and literally borrowed and read all the books I could find. Still, after reading over 25 books, I was afraid. I lacked confidence to go out there and do deals.

I would take small baby steps spread out over 1 year. Real estate was what I wanted to do and never got a job for a whole year and a half. I did however, apply for some part time jobs so I could at least bring in some money to support my young family. But never did get hired. Well I was turning my wheels for over a year and a half, with no income coming in whatsoever, and with a young family to provide for.

I came across a website that had a post "Free Leads" one day. I clicked on it, and it told me to go to Dodeals.com. I went and read about Tim Mai. I emailed him about mentoring me because he seemed like a great person. After about a week or so, he emailed me back and wanted my commitment and seriousness about real estate.

I gave it to him, and he gave me some specific assignments to follow. I did everything he told me to do. I felt a little more confident since I had a experienced investor helping me out pretty much every step of the way.

Tim was so kind to answer all my questions. I think it was about 3 weeks after Tim started helping me that I got my first deal under contract. It was a fire damaged property. I didn't think it was a good deal. I sent Tim some pictures and he said he might have a winner.

I got excited. 1 day later I found a cash buyer investor. Not the easiest investor to work with but we ended up closing on this deal a week later.

It was about 2 weeks from contracting with the sellers to getting my check.

Total net profit is $5,000. I forgot to mention, before I received this check, my family and I only had about $500 to our names. What a difference $5,000 makes to us.........
